Osiris Facility (d20)

d20 Type Creatures Test

1

An empty room. Mostly empty.

You cannot see or hear Ichabod.

There’s nothing else interesting going on. Except a note.

2

A laboratory. This area appears to be dedicated to studying memory in plants. It appears that way because someone has written that helpfully on one of the whiteboards in the room. The rest of the writing is math. Plants thrive under powerful UV lamps which hum happily.

Ichabod is nowhere to be seen.

There’s a note in here.

3

Fridge? Yes! This is a kitchen. It looks brand new! Osiris must have renovated this area first.

You can hear Ichabod gaining on you.

Something’s rotting in here. It smells terrible. There is a note. Its probably fine.

4

It looks like this used to be a break room - water cooler, coffee maker, fridge - but someone’s rolled a cot in here and made the space their own. There are black and green blankets and pillows. Posters and cutouts of a few notable scene and emo bands are plastered up on the walls. A few pizza boxes and Beanies cups lay forgotten near the garbage. The space isn’t very clean…

Nails click behind you, in the room you just left.

The room is sweltering. It’s not too hot to function in, just… sweltering.

There is a note.

5

Kennels line the walls. A few operating tables take up most of the small room. It’s a relatively clean workspace. Nothing bad happened here.

There is distant scratching…but no sign of the dog.

Someone’s etched something into the nearest wall: RUN.

It feels a little redundant.

How many times are these faceless npcs going to tell you what you already know?

There’s also a note.

That seems less redundant. But only a little.

6

Servers scream their electronic song in rows and rows and rows of dark, blinking lights. This room is strangely new for such an old building.

This room seems safe. But… Ichabod will be… in the next room.

There’s a fire extinguisher in here. And a note.

7

A large operating theatre.

Surgical tools sit bloodied on stainless steel trays. Some tools are familiar. Nothing obscene about this. It is a normal work space for science and research to occur in. What were you expecting?

Ichabod is on your heels.

There’s a first aid kit in here. There should probably be one in every room of a facility this size. But at least there are two?

8

Lab equipment, clean and unused, appears to be stored here. The space is fairly well organized, all things considered.

Ichabod lunges towards you!

Blood stains the walls, low to the ground. Little red paw prints crusted onto the floor… and nearby, a note.

9

Red light hums overhead. Photos clipped to lines strung overhead. The images feature remains, both flora and fauna, in varying states of decay. The light from the hall blackens a photo still processing in a tray.

There is no way out but back.

WATCH OUT!! Seemingly from nowhere, Ichabod strikes from above!!

A human body lays nearby, unmoving. There’s a note on it………………

10

A large bio-lab. This room appears equipped to study micro-organisms. Someone has strewn notes about their findings absolutely everywhere in near-illegible scrawl. Specimens thrive in contained petri environments. A bunsen burner has been left on.

You hear clicking nails above you. Is Ichabod… in the vent…?

Suddenly, steam hisses from a pipe overhead. It doesn’t stop. It’ll be hard to hear incoming danger over. There is a note though.

11

Carpet. Countertops. Coffee maker? A strangely homey space, weathered wallpaper bearing busy floral patterns. A few off-white tables litter the space, decorated with placemats and thriving indoor plants. Animals encourage you to work hard from peeling laminate posters and framed motivational prints. One features a cheery little Chihuahua running a marathon: “Small steps, big progress!”  It seems in poor taste.

No sign of the dog. You’ve lost him for the moment. This room is safe.

You can see your breath… The room is freezing cold for some reason. But it’s not so cold you can’t proceed. There is a note, but you might want to save it for a warmer room.

12

Sea green tile. Rusting yellow lockers line one wall. Showers line another. There are a few stalls - some change rooms, others toilets - and a line of sinks equipped with soap dispensers.

There is an ominous snuffling… it is too hard to place from where.

Moss grows abundantly in the corners of the room. It doesn’t present any sort of obstacle. It’s just neat. Also, there’s a note. It is also covered in moss.

13

Holding cells line the hallway, fenced in like large kennels. Tile floors, the colour of which has lost to time and use. Each cell is equipped with a drain installed in the middle of the floor. Signs of life cling to the rooms in ways not easily washed away.

Barking echoes down a hall. Ichabod is looking for you.

The lights flicker and then go out, blanketing the room in darkness. How will you proceed?

14

Computers, monitors, keyboards… ugly rows of outdated equipment line uglier columns of industrial tables. Metal chairs are tucked neatly into each identical work station. The room collects dust from years of apparent disuse, yet… the computers appear to be operating.

Ichabod gets in through a hole in the wall. He’s coming.

Otherwise… This room seems nice. There seems to be… a note!

15

An old hangar repurposed as an industrial storage space. The room is cavernous, spanning all four floors of the facility. Metal stairways and lifts line the walls. Large manufacturing equipment cluttering the open concrete presents both an obstacle and an opportunity to hide…

Ichabod snarls, faraway. What a terrible beast… (it sounds like a regular Chihuahua).

Plants have taken over this space through the piping. Walking is made treacherous by their winding growth. It’s humid… and a little difficult to breathe.

16

This is a supply closet.
Lots of supplies in here.

Nowhere to run.

There is no sign of the dog.

There is sign of a bear.

There’s a bear sleeping in this room.

It looks like a pipe burst in here. Murky water floods the room, ankle-deep and uncomfortable. A water-logged note drifts by. You’ll have to dry it before you can read it.

17

An empty hallway, long and windowless and winding… Lights flicker overhead. Every step echoes… Sounds leak in from behind closed doors, hard to place. But there are doors aplenty. Lots of ways to get away. Lots of ways to get lost.

You close the door on Ichabod’s face. It has the good grace not to yelp when you do. It hurls itself at the door a few times before giving up and looking for another way in.

It appears that there’s a note in here.

18

A hallway, short and straightforward. Maybe a little crowded… who’s bright idea was it to shove a bunch of desks in here?

The dog is gone. Perhaps it went a different way.

Every way out is blocked. But there is a note in here. So that’s. Something.

19

A concrete and metal stairway. Poor lighting and a thousand shades of grey paint hide what it’s smell can’t: this thing is filthy.

You can only go up or down. Or maybe… turn around.

Ichabod stands in your way. What the fuck… why does it look like that. (It looks like a regular chihuahua).

Nothing else impedes your progress. It seems there’s a note in here.

20

A heavy industrial elevator lies in wait behind an otherwise non-descript door. There are four floors and two basement levels. The emergency button has been removed.

Ichabod is in here, searching. But somehow he doesn’t see or hear you… Not yet.

The path is relatively clear. It appears there is a note.
